There are different formats of the progress report depending upon whom the progress report is being sent to, it can be in a form of short informal report or a long formal report. The progress report must be comprehensive and should contain every detail including your future plans about the project and the time you think you will take to complete the project and the progress you have done, basically. A good progress report should have a good introductory paragraph telling the supervisor the history or background of the project you are working on and how long you have been working on it.

A progress report can also mention the summary of the materials used until now and the problems you have faced and the most important thing the scope and importance of the project. The progress report should assure the supervisors that the project is in progress and is going fluently, the problems you faced were all solved and the project will be completed by the expected date. Then end the report with dividing the whole project into different parts and then tell the supervisor how many parts have been done and how much progress is made on the other parts. And then reassure the authority that everything is going well, and the project will be done on time. A good progress report tells the supervisor about how much you are interested in the project and how much of your efforts you are giving to the project.
